Infrared Babies... Circa 2004

Well I have been trying to somehow organize my work back in the day when prints were the only files to look through. These are from the year 2004 when I was taking a continuing education class through C.C.S. before I started my first semester there. This was also my first time using infrared film, does anyone even use it anymore? Well I had a blast with it and had my first work in a show from this roll, also my first publication in a book from this roll; one lucky roll. These are the unseen images from it and of a friend who has to be spoken about. Her name was Madison and she was (and I am sure still is) a compulsive liar. Her tales included all in one week being informed of throat cancer, signing a modeling contract for Apple Bottom Jeans and having the cancer "pulled" through her throat so that she wouldn't have an scars for her new modeling job. Yes at that point we knew the jig was up... but it did amaze me how she convinced herself of her own reality and although a liar.. usually a giving and fun person.

My boyfriend has a very good friend Gabe and he has an Amanda. Always together they make gabeamanda. On this rare day I captured Amanda without Gabe, (even though he was only about 10 feet away) and I can't believe I captured it! Jokes jokes... Amanda is great, she brought out sparklers and we had some fun!

BIG MAN JAPAN MONSTER SLUGFEST

Matt took me to the BIG MAN JAPAN MONSTER SLUGFEST at the Detroit Film Theatre at the Detroit Institute of Arts. It was sooooo much fun. During the day Matt and I had to search for Japanese toys to battle at the theatre before the movie. We had to figure out with could withstand an earthquake of sorts. With air guns on a rumble plate we each pushed our monsters toward each other and killed the weak. After battling small children and middle-aged men... I won!!!!! Free tickets to the DFT for the rest of the yearrr... so happy! I will scan in my new movie pass and winners button later... because it is worth seeing.

SENIOR SELECT

I was selected as "Senior Select" for the Photography department, yay! 

So basically:

I show at the center gallery with all of the other senior selects, and in my department, I get some cash, and I get to walk onto the stage twice at graduation, fun! Hopefully the school buys some of my work because that would be nice. I am very happy to be representing my department :)

I had a pile of receipts, and as my friend Ryan read them aloud so many memories came out and I realized that someone could really get the surface of my life when finding these little pieces of paper. I left a documented trail of my life with every purchase. These images that I have created are just the surface memory, I plan on doing more elaborate actual memories with each receipt, as a response and continuation.
